JAN 2025: NEW QR CODE LABEL
All users must read and understand the instruction manual prior to using Perkins products. The manuals include important safety and operational guidelines. All Perkins lifters now come with a QR code label which will direct the user to the Perkins cart lifter manuals. Information about operation, safety, replacement parts and troubleshooting is always readily available. Now with the QR code label, users will have all this powerful data at their fingertips. It’s like having a manual in your pocket! Simply point your smart phone’s camera at the QR code and click the yellow pop up box for instant access to all Perkins manuals.
RE: Between 12/14/20 to 2/9/21, actuator-based lifters were shipped with an incorrect label.
Perkins is phasing out the grease zerks on rotary actuators. The actuator has always been self-lubricating, and the purpose of the actuator zerks was to flush away contamination from the external seals. This works well with a hand pump, but some customers have modern high-pressure grease systems, which can blow out the seal causing damage. To prevent this damage, Perkins is taking two steps: 1) Labeling that specifies hand pump only for these zerks and 2) The grease zerks will be removed from production units starting in early spring 2021, as they are not needed.
Existing label for actuators with zerks.
Due to a quality oversight, the new label was placed on equipment prematurely, on product that still had zerks.
New label intended for actuators without zerks.
The intention was to coordinate the new label with the new zerkless actuators. However, the new label was placed pre-maturely on actuators with zerks, which means lifters manufactured between 12/14/20 to 2/9/21 did not have the correct grease instructions.
Customer Action:
Your lifters will function as intended and no adjustment is needed. You can ignore the grease zerks on the actuators entirely. If you do grease them, only use a hand pump. They do not need to be greased, and on future production they will be eliminated.
Perkins will provide free replacement labels # D72163 to any customer that has affected product (please provide serial number when making this request).
